Leon Walker is a poet, motivational speaker, and cultural curator with a deep passion for storytelling and community empowerment. Based in Tacoma, Washington, Leon has spent decades using his voice and creative expression to inspire others, shedding light on the beauty and challenges of Black identity, fatherhood, and resilience.
Before dedicating himself fully to the arts, Leon retired as a correctional officer, where he witnessed firsthand the complexities of the justice system. His experiences shaped his perspective and fueled his commitment to creating spaces for healing, understanding, and cultural pride.
As the former owner of one of the largest African art museums on the West Coast, located on Tacoma’s historic MLK Boulevard, Leon has long been a steward of cultural preservation. His museum was not only a space for showcasing the richness of African heritage but also a hub for community dialogue and education.
